I hope you enjoy this site!  Here, you will find essentially every sermon, devotional, and book thoughts that I have ever or will ever write.  I find it important to keep sermons in written form so that I can pass them along to people who would like to read them.  Audio and video are great tools, but nothing will surpass the second oldest form of communication -- the written word.  God has placed it on my heart to be a vessel for His Kingdom, a messenger charged to be prepared to preach in season and out of season, and this is a way for my sermons to have an effect after they have already been written and posted.  A sermon written in 2010 could have an impact in 2015 for someone in need of that word.  If you happen to disagree, then that's fine with me -- to each his or her own.  Disagreement and discussion keep the body of Christ fresh and anew, testing His Word and those that write on it and about it.  As far as theology is concerned, I am a major supporter of Biblical Hermeneutics and fall on the side of "once saved, always saved."  I don't blindly trust anyone who gives me a word, but, rather, test that word against an in depth study of the Scripture as it related to that word.  If, after my study, I believe that word to be wrong, I go over it again to make sure.  In other words, I am not just a hearer.  I study, as the Word says, "Study to show thyself approved" (2 Tim 2:15); if one were to look at the Greek word for "study," one would find the word "diligent" in the definition -- thus, to study Scripture, one must do so diligently.

Sermons are lessons from Scripture to help you understand Scripture more and to be able to apply it to everyday life.  If you listen to the words of an anointed preacher, your life will be richer than if you simply went to church and sang some hymns.  A preacher is the light-bearer, the one who is supposed to take the light of Christ into the world.  Colossians 3:16 tells us this: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  Singing is just one part of the puzzle; teaching the Word of God is another.

I hope to give you something to take away from these sermons.  Hopefully, I can clarify some "contradictions", give the seeds for spiritual peace, and help some understand the Word better.  I pray that God richly bless all of you and prosper you all!

In His Service,

Dr. Alan L. Parrish
